Accra: A delegation from the Ghana India Chamber of Commerce, led by Chairman David Brian Obro, recently visited the newly appointed Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, Shri Surinder Bhagat, at the Indian High Commissioner's office in Accra to extend an official welcome to his new post.
According to Ghana News Agency, during the meeting, the delegation informed the High Commissioner about the Chamber's core activities, emphasizing its role in enhancing economic relations between Ghana and India. Chairman Obro provided an update on a recent trade mission by Chamber members to India, where several Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) were signed with various chambers of commerce in India, setting the stage for increased collaboration.
The talks focused on the importance of reducing tariffs to boost trade and cultural exchange between the two countries. To formalize this initiative, there was a proposal to establish a joint committee to explore and recommend strategies for tariff reduction, benefiting businesses and citizens in both nations.
High Commissioner Shri Surinder Bhagat expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and assured the delegation of his full support. He pledged to facilitate connections between the Chamber and Indian investment delegations interested in business opportunities in Ghana. Additionally, he committed to keeping the Chamber informed about trade fairs and exhibitions in India and assisting members in participating in these events.
Ambassador Bhagat remarked, "I look forward to working closely with the Chamber to further our shared objectives for the mutual benefit of both nations." The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the economic and cultural partnership between Ghana and India.
