IMF Deal: Whatever it takes, we must work our way out as government – Frank Annor Dompreh

Member of Parliament (MP) for Nsawam Adoagyiri and Majority Chief Whip in Ghana’s Parliament, Frank Annor Dompreh has hinted at government’s readiness to rescue Ghana out of its current economic mess.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and government of Ghana have today, Tuesday, December 13, reached a staff-level agreement on a three-year arrangement of about $3 billion to support the country’s economic growth.

“The economic programme aims to restore macroeconomic stability and debt sustainability while laying the foundation for stronger and more inclusive growth.

“The staff-level agreement is subject to IMF management and Executive Board approval and receipt of the necessary financing assurances by Ghana’s partners and creditors,” a statement from the IMF explains.

This comes after six months of negotiations between both sides.

Reacting to this via a tweet on Tuesday, Mr. Annor-Dompreh said government must work hard regardless of what it may require to make the programme achieve its goals.

“Whatever it takes, we must work our way out as a government…It is not beyond us,” his tweet reads.
