I’m not dreaming of World Cup call up, I’m just enjoying my football at Accra Great Olympics – Agyemang Badu

Former Udinese Calcio and Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has spoken out about his future with the senior national team.

Unlike his former teammate and captain, Asamoah Gyan, who wishes to make his final World Cup appearance, Agyemamg Badu is unconcerned.

Speaking at an eSport Summit in Accra on Wednesday, September 7, the experienced player stated that he is content with his current team, Accra Great Olympics, and not ready for a Black Stars call-up.

“I am not ready for the Black Stars or the upcoming World Cup. I just want to enjoy my football with Great Olympics and not to have another chance with the Black Stars.

“The league has become very physical and I am now trying hard to fit into it so I would not want to stress myself with the Black Stars,” he added.

He appealed to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to treat the players with respect and love.

He further urged them to assist the players, especially when they are injured on a national assignment without being neglected, as in his case.

“In my case, for 15 years in my career, all the injuries and scars I had were with the national team but yet always received treatments with my clubs or myself.

“We have a huge passion for the nation and such things would go a long way to help players give their best to the nation,” he said.

He stressed that “communication between players, management, and the GFA must improve to ensure players were satisfied and ready to play to win laurels for the country.”
