Manila:Mr. Samson Asaki Awingobit, the Executive Secretary of the Importers and Exporters Association of Ghana (IEAG), has been awarded a Certificate of Appreciation at the 2026 International World Rice Conference for his contributions to the global rice industry.
According to Ghana News Agency, the recognition was given by the conference organizers, The Rice Trader and the International Commodity Institute, during the three-day event held from October 07 to 09 at the Dusit Thani Manila in the Philippines.
Mr. Awingobit was acknowledged for his active participation, knowledge-sharing, and contributions to discussions on issues affecting the global rice trade. His involvement provided a platform to emphasize Ghana's rice import and trade interests, fostering engagement between Ghanaian businesses and international stakeholders in the rice value chain.
The conference convened stakeholders from the global rice industry to exchange market intelligence, explore trade opportunities, and discuss developments in rice production and commerce. This year marked Mr. Awingobit's third attendance at the international gathering, having previously participated in the 2024 edition in Manila and the 2025 conference in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
His prior engagements have helped connect Ghanaian rice importers with farmers, producers, and trading partners in the Philippines and Cambodia, facilitating commercial relationships and access to new markets. Such interactions are crucial for strengthening Ghana's rice supply chain, improving access to international suppliers, and establishing mutually beneficial partnerships.
The IEAG expressed confidence that Mr. Awingobit's ongoing involvement in the conference would further enhance international trade relationships, expand business opportunities, and improve market information access for Ghanaian importers and exporters. The Association reaffirmed its commitment to strategic international engagements to promote trade facilitation, boost private-sector competitiveness, and strengthen Ghana's position in global trade.
