Spain: Ghana could be on the path to a major sports infrastructure boost after Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, revealed that businessman Ibrahim Mahama has expressed strong interest in helping fund the construction of a modern stadium in the country.
According to Ghana Web, the Minister disclosed through Ghana Football Association (GFA) media that discussions took place during Ghana's World Cup clash against England. During the event, Mahama raised questions about the cost of building a facility similar to top international stadiums. "We need to invest in sports infrastructure. I sat with Ibrahim Mahama during Ghana's game against England and he asked how much it would cost to build a stadium like this," Kofi Adams said.
The Minister further explained that Ibrahim Mahama has tasked officials to provide architectural designs and cost estimates, indicating early steps toward what could become one of Ghana's most ambitious sporting projects in years. "He tasked us with getting the design so we can start building one in Ghana," the Minister added.
The proposed development comes at a time when calls for improved sports infrastructure in Ghana have grown louder. Many argue that modern facilities are key to supporting both national teams and domestic competitions.
