Hohoe: Mr Prosper Kumi, the Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has presented 1,600 mono desks to schools within the municipality to enhance teaching and learning. The desks were distributed among 40 schools and were funded by the District Assemblies Common Fund's allocation for furniture.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Kumi emphasized that the presentation reflected accountable management of the Fund. Additionally, procurement processes have been initiated for tables and chairs intended for kindergarten learners across approximately 12 schools. He mentioned that provisions for teachers' tables and chairs are under consideration, along with plans to provide modern cupboards to safeguard learning materials.
Mr Kumi also assured that the Assembly would facilitate the transportation of the desks to the beneficiary schools, alleviating the logistical burden on the schools.
Mr Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Hohoe Constituency, acknowledged that a conducive learning environment is essential for educational success. He described the donation as a supportive step in addressing the challenges faced in teaching and learning to improve educational outcomes. Mr Tsekpo also committed to addressing issues affecting teachers to enable them to perform effectively.
Mr Newton Darkey, the Hohoe Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), urged the Heads of beneficiary schools to maintain the infrastructure, particularly the furniture, properly.
Mr Kafui Bosso, the Municipal Deputy Director of Finance and Administration, speaking on behalf of the Hohoe Municipal Director of Education, expressed gratitude for the donation. He noted that it was the largest donation received, significantly addressing the infrastructure challenges within the municipality. Mr Bosso added that the donation would serve as a catalyst for the Directorate to enhance educational outcomes.
