According to Ghana News Agency:ccording to Ghana News Agency, the debate was designed to offer a platform for candidates to present their policies and visions to the electorate. Only Mr. Divine RK Bosson of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Mr. Mawulorm Kwami Klutse, an Independent Candidate, were present and took part in the discussion.
Mr. Vincent Adzika, the NCCE Director in Ho, expressed his disappointment at the absence of the NDC and NDP candidates. He noted that invitations were sent well in advance, and the candidates had confirmed their attendance. In an interview, Mr. Adzika mentioned that the absence did not derail the event, as the present candidates engaged effectively with the audience.
Mr. Adzika also suggested that the non-attendance of the absent candidates might reflect an inability to be accountable to constituents, questioning how they would provide accountability if elected. Despite their absence, several party executives, including the NDC constituency chairperson and the Volta Regiona
l Chairman of the NDP, attended without offering explanations for the candidates’ absence.
The debate included five sections, covering topics such as Education, Entrepreneurship and Job Creation, Health, and the Creative Arts Industry. Mr. Bright Kwabla Agbodeka, a member of the NCCE Commission, emphasized the need for collective responsibility in nation-building, aligning with the theme ‘Together, We Can Build Ghana – So Get Involved.’
Lawyer Andrews Adugu, serving as the debate’s moderator, praised the courage and dedication of the participating candidates, urging them to respect cultural values and collaborate with traditional authorities. Rev. Fr. Dr. Isaac Benuyenah, Chairman of the Ho Central IPDC, advised maintaining peace during the electoral process for the development of Ho Central.
Both participating candidates, Mr. Divine RK Bosson and Mr. Mawulorm Kwami Klutse, committed to ensuring peace in the constituency. The event concluded with audience applause, attended by chiefs, queen mothers, commun
ity leaders, civil society representatives, and residents from the Ho Central Constituency.
