Some youth of Afigya Kwabre South District have launched a manhunt for a 34-year-old man accused of having unlawful sexual relations with teenage boys in the community.

According to Ghana Web, residents say the suspect was arrested and handed over to the Kodie District Police Command for investigations. However, they became furious upon learning that he had reportedly been granted bail and returned to the community.

The youth claim his presence irritates them and threatens young boys in the community. Unit Committee Member of Afigya Kwabre South District, identified as Seth, asserted that the community finds his actions unacceptable to Hemang's cultural values. "We understand the police have the legal right to grant bail, but the people in this community do not feel comfortable living with him here. That is why some residents are searching for him to drive him out of the community," he stated.

"Hemang has no substantive chief or traditional council to handle such matters," Seth added, citing a void in local authority as the reason why residents have taken matters into their own hands. The suspect was initially apprehended by residents on Monday, May 11, 2026, after allegations surfaced that he had been in an inappropriate relationship with a teenager for six months.

Residents are calling on police to speed up investigations to prevent violence or mob justice. However, the police have not yet officially commented on the incident.
