Haruna Iddrisu and Sukparu Airlifted After Tumu Accident

Tumu: A video has surfaced showing how the Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, and the Deputy Minister of Communications and Digital Technology, Mohammed Adams Sukparu, were airlifted following a serious accident on the Bolgatanga-Tumu Road. The accident occurred on Thursday, February 12, 2026, and was widely reported across media platforms. Both officials were later confirmed to be safe and in stable condition.

According to Ghana Web, a statement issued the same day by the Press Secretary to the Education Minister confirmed that the two government officials were on official duty in the Upper West Region for scheduled engagements. The video, shared on X, was captioned, 'The moment the Education Minister, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, the Deputy Communications Minister, Hon. Adams Sukparu, and other victims of the near-fatal road accident yesterday were airlifted from Tumu for medical attention in Accra', and captures the ministers and others being carried from the vehicle and transported into an aircraft at Tumu for medical evacuation to Accra.

The aircraft was parked on a large sandy field, with onlookers standing nearby as the evacuation took place. Meanwhile, social media users have reacted strongly to the footage, with many calling for the construction of modern hospitals in the region to ensure emergency medical care is readily available during such incidents.
