Abura dunkwa: Nana Kojo Dadzie II, Guantuahene of Abura Dunkwa in the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese District of the Central Region, has cautioned the youth of the town to stay away from hard drugs that could ruin their lives and that of others. He emphasized the growing concern over the continuous use of illicit drugs, warning that failure to address this issue could result in numerous wasted lives in the future.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Guantuahene made this call during an interview at Abura Dunkwa. He highlighted that some of the drugs causing concern include cannabis, cocaine, mephedrone, tramadol, and alcohol, among others. The traditional ruler stressed that drug abuse could alter perception, mood, and cognitive behaviors, posing a significant challenge to the community.
He further advised young people against experimenting with drugs, as this could lead to addiction. The Guantuahene pointed out that drug misuse presents a severe challenge in Abura Dunkwa, acting as a catalyst for economic difficulties and profoundly impacting the socioeconomic, public health, social, and individual aspects of the nation.
He urged the entire society, including parents, religious bodies, politicians, educational institutions, and civil society organizations, to join forces in combating substance use among the youth.
