Accra: The Government has exceeded its Treasury bills target in the latest auction held by the Bank of Ghana, showing strong demand from investors. Results of Tender 2010, conducted on June 5, 2026, revealed that the Government planned to raise GHS 5.442 billion through the sale of 91-day, 182-day, and 364-day Treasury bills. However, the amount accepted from investors was about GHS 5.832 billion, meaning the Government surpassed its target by approximately GHS 389.86 million.
According to Ghana News Agency, the total bids submitted by investors reached about GHS 6.092 billion, indicating that more money was offered than expected. This strong participation suggests that investors have confidence in government securities and that there is ample liquidity in the financial system. The 91-day bill recorded the highest demand, with about GHS 3.563 billion offered and GHS 3.508 billion accepted. For the 182-day bill, GHS 1.714 billion was tendered, with GHS 1.684 billion accepted. The 364-day bill had GHS 816 million in bids, but only GHS 640 million was taken.
The auction results also highlighted the average interest rates for the various bills. The 91-day bill had an average rate of approximately 5.01 percent, the 182-day bill recorded around 7.09 percent, while the 364-day bill had the highest rate of about 10.84 percent. The next auction, known as Tender 2011, is expected to target GHS 7.425 billion.
