Mr. Suleymana Mumuni, the Wa Municipal Chairperson of GNAPS, emphasized that the initiative was intended to 'challenge teachers and students to teach and learn beyond what they normally do.' The competition focused on four core subjects-English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science, and Social Studies-using past examination questions from 2017 to 2025 to familiarize students with BECE question patterns.
Mr. Mumuni explained that the exposure to past questions would compel candidates to learn thoroughly and build their confidence, even if the questions do not repeat but appear in a similar format. The 15 participating schools were divided into five groups of three, with winners set to advance to the finals on December 13, 2025.
The Association plans to make the quiz an annual event, with another round scheduled for January before the BECE. Additionally, GNAPS has outlined an action plan that includes introducing a Best Teacher Award to motivate educators and conducting a common mock exam for all private schools in the municipality. This mock exam will be held at a central location with external invigilators and police officers to simulate the official BECE environment, providing students with a realistic examination experience.
Mr. Mumuni reiterated his commitment to improving standards and performance in private basic education within the municipality. He encouraged students to focus on their studies to excel in academic pursuits, including the BECE.
