Accra, Aug. 1, GNA-The Right Rev. Prosper Samuel Dzomeku, the Moderator of the Global Evangelical Church, has appealed to pastors not to manipulate their members but rather use their gifts to build them up.

He said it was incumbent on pastors to pass on to their members the sound doctrines that they received at the Seminary so as to correct the ills in society.

The Moderator was speaking at the Commissioning Service of some 17 pastors of the Church at the El Shammah Chapel, Tesano in Accra.

He spoke on the theme: ‘Faithful Stewards are Kingdom Minded’.

He bemoaned the practice where some pastors request their members to bring salt, sponge, new pots, water and oils to Church and were made to believe in such articles.

‘My brothers and sisters in Christ, what you need is the name of Jesus. Project the name of Jesus above mantles and directions’.

He urged the Commissioned pastors to distinguish themselves by not following others who preach to please people, adding that “go and preach what God has asked you to preach.”

On corruption, the Moderator said if Christians form 70 percent of the country’s population, then the antidote to the canker was in their domain.

He said the majority of the people who took bribes in the offices were Christians, who come to church on Sundays.

As Christians, let our lifestyle and proclamations showcase Christ wherever we are.

Moderator Dzomeku asked the newly commissioned pastors not to confined themselves only to their chapels but to spread the gospel to all just as Jesus commanded.

Earlier, Rev. Dr. Yohanes Ahiabu, the Synod Clerk, read the profiles of the candidates and presented them to the Moderator for Commissioning.

Rev. Janet Danso, on behalf of her colleagues, thanked God for the grace extended to them and the Executive for the honour done them. She also thanked the GTS faculty and their families for training them and supporting them respectively.

The ceremony was witnessed by some Past Executives of the Church, Synod Committee members, Pastors and their Spouses, family and friends of the Commissioned pastors.
