Ghana’s Unpaid Debt to Legendary Coach CK Gyamfi Revealed

Accra:Outspoken sports journalist Dan Kwaku Yeboah has revealed that Ghana owed legendary coach Charles Kumi (CK) Gyamfi money for his services until his death. Gyamfi, who led the Black Stars to numerous major honors, reportedly did not receive full payment for his contributions to the national team.

According to Ghana Web, Yeboah stated that the country's football authorities failed to fully appreciate Gyamfi's remarkable achievements, as some of his outstanding salaries remained unpaid. He lamented the poor treatment of national team coaches, suggesting it may contribute to Ghana's ongoing struggle to secure more trophies.

Gyamfi was a pivotal figure in Ghana's football history. He won the Africa Cup of Nations titles in 1963 and 1965, and served as the technical director for the team that clinched the 1982 trophy. His career also included playing for German club Fortuna Düsseldorf and renowned Ghanaian teams Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko. In 1999, he was honored as a chief by the people of Okorasi in Ghana's Eastern Region.
