GHANA’S PRESIDENT PRAISES HIS GNDER AND CHILDREN MINISTER FOR ENABLING HIM TO MEET CHILDREN THIS XMAS

ACCRA, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of Ghana has congratulated his Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Otiko Afisah Djaba, for giving him an opportunity to interact with children as part of the Christmas celebrations.

The Ministry organized a big and colourful party for some 2,000 children at Kyebi in Eastern Region (Province), about 90 ,kilometres north of here, to mark the annual President’s Children Christmas Party. The party is being held annually to enable the President and members of the Cabinet to socialise with children and also know their concerns.

President Akufo-Addo expressed appreciation to Djaba for organizing the President’s Children Christmas party in his hometown for the first time and described it as an honour for him to join a large gathering of enthusiastic children dancing to Ghanaian music.

President Akufo-Addo reiterated his government’s resolve to end child marriage, trafficking of children, child abuse, defilement and rape and advised parents to pay special attention to the welfare of their children for their better future.

Djaba called on the children and Ghana at large to take advantage of the Free Compulsory Universal Basic Education and the Free Senior High (SHS) School policy introduced by President Akufo-Addo to educate themselves and become future leaders.
