Brussels: Ghana international Mohammed Fuseini was the victim of a violent robbery in Brussels on Sunday, July 26, 2026, after being ambushed by a group of five hooded men who stole his valuables before fleeing the scene. The 24-year-old Royale Union Saint-Gilloise winger was attacked while sitting in his parked car in broad daylight. Video footage of the incident, which has since circulated on social media and Belgian television, shows the attackers surrounding his vehicle, dragging him out and placing him in a chokehold during the assault.
According to Ghana Web, Belgian media reports indicated that the robbers escaped with two iPhones, his wallet, and a Rolex Datejust wristwatch valued at between pound 8,000 and pound 14,000. They reportedly threw Fuseini to the ground before fleeing. Fuseini was taken to hospital immediately after the attack, where he underwent medical checks before being discharged. Despite the traumatic incident, the winger returned to Union Saint-Gilloise's pre-season training on Monday, July 27, 2026.
Club spokesperson, Thijs Roelen, informed Belgian media that even though the ordeal had affected the player, Fuseini showed up during training. 'Physically, the damage is limited. He trained normally with us again yesterday,' he said. The Brussels prosecutor's office confirmed on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, that a suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with the robbery.
