Ghana’s 2027 Budget to Focus on Job Creation and Economic Growth

Accra:Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has announced that the 2027 Budget will outline the government's strategy to transform Ghana’s economic recovery into concrete outcomes, such as creating decent jobs for the youth, enhancing farmers' incomes, and expanding opportunities for local businesses.

According to Ghana Web, Dr. Forson is set to present the budget to Parliament on Thursday, November 12, 2026. The budget will reveal details of the New Economy programme, a four-year investment initiative introduced by President John Dramani Mahama.

The US$10 billion programme, scheduled to run from 2027 to 2030, aims to boost domestic production, increase local processing of Ghana’s raw materials, and support Ghanaian companies in expanding their market presence both domestically and internationally.

The announcement of the budget follows Ghana's completion of the final review of its IMF-supported lending programme in July. Recent data from the Ghana Statistical Service indicated that the economy grew by 6.0 percent in the second quarter of 2026, with an annual inflation rate of 5.2 percent recorded in September.

Dr. Forson had previously emphasized a focus on job creation during the July Mid-Year Fiscal Policy Review. The upcoming budget is expected to detail the government’s investment priorities for 2027 and outline financing strategies to maintain the economic recovery's momentum.
