Bekwai: Ghanaians have been urged to embrace the culture of giving and contribute significantly to developmental initiatives in their communities. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mr. Bright Acheampong, the Staff Officer at the Ashanti South Regional Police Command, highlighted the importance of community involvement in national development, emphasizing that while the government holds a key role in providing essential infrastructure, the scale of the country's needs necessitates additional support from individuals, institutions, and stakeholders.
According to Ghana News Agency, DSP Acheampong made these remarks while addressing media practitioners who visited his office to acknowledge his contributions to developmental initiatives within the Ghana Police Service. He stressed that national development is a collective responsibility and encouraged individuals and organizations to leverage their resources, skills, and platforms to support projects benefiting the public.
DSP Acheampong provided examples of his contributions, including supporting infrastructure improvements at the Patase Police Depot in Kumasi. He highlighted the construction of a classroom block named after former Inspector-General of Police, ACP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, as well as the development of entrance and exit gates and a Police Learning Centre.
Further, DSP Acheampong mentioned his provision of chairs and a poly tank for the Patase Police Depot to enhance the facility and support personnel welfare. Alongside Ashanti South Regional Police Commander, DCOP Joseph Hammond Nyaaba, he initiated and facilitated the construction of a tailoring shop at the Amangoase Police Station, intended to serve police personnel from six district commands.
He also cited the construction of a conference room for the Ashanti South Regional Police Command as part of efforts to improve the working environment and operational facilities of the Service. DSP Acheampong urged citizens to identify genuine developmental needs in their communities and contribute according to their capacity, noting that individual contributions, regardless of size, can yield significant results collectively.
He encouraged corporate organizations, philanthropists, institutions, and individuals to support initiatives promoting education, community development, public service, and societal wellbeing. DSP Acheampong emphasized that fostering a culture of giving not only addresses immediate needs but also leaves a positive legacy for future generations.
He called on the media to continue highlighting development-oriented initiatives and inspire citizens to engage in meaningful contributions to national and community development. DSP Acheampong concluded by remarking that acts of generosity and service to humanity can transform communities and create opportunities for people to lead better, more productive lives.
