Dede Ayew, Captain of the senior national team, the Black Stars has opined about his brother Jordan Ayew’s frequent criticisms.

To him, Ghanaians have just made it a habit to talk badly about the Crystal Palace forward even when they know he is worth a Black Stars call-up.

He stressed in an interview after Ghana’s encounter with South Korea in the ongoing FIFA World Cup on Monday, November 28 that Jordan has been able to stay active for six years in the English Premier League due to his qualities.

“It’s not the first time (that Jordan has played well)… I think he’s just someone that people just want to speak bad about but they in their hearts know the kind of quality that he is…” he told the media.

The Ghana and Crystal Palace forward received praise following his impressive performance in Ghana’s game against South Korea on Monday, November 28.

He trended on social media, particularly on Twitter, with a lot of people lauding him with the hashtags “drop the hate” and “we are sorry.”

The 31-year-old contributed to Ghana’s second goal with an impressive pass that was netted by Mohammed Kudus.

Before the game, many fans were criticising the coach for making him a starter because of what they described as his “bad” performance in Ghana and Portugal’s game on Thursday, November 28.

But his performance until he was substituted in the 77th minute was an eyesore and a greater portion of Ghana’s 3-2 win over the Asians.

Ghana’s victory at the Education City Stadium marks the team’s five-game winless run in FIFA World Cup games since their defeat to Uruguay in the 2010 South Africa FIFA World Cup quarterfinal match.

Kudus was adjudged the man of the match after setting the record as Ghana’s first player to score two goals in a single World Cup game.

“I want to thank all my teammates for playing their part in my winning the man of the match,” he said in a post-match interview, adding that the Black Stars are “fully confident” going into the Uruguay game. “We are coming in 100%” against Uruguay on Friday, December 2.
