Accra: Kennedy Osei Nyarko, Member of Parliament for Akim Swedru, has raised concerns over the state of Ghana's economy, warning that the country's economic growth appears strong only on paper.
According to Ghana Web, in a Facebook post, MP Nyarko stated, "Translating the paper economy into the real economy has become a challenge for the government. The more reason why, even though inflation and exchange rates are down, prices of goods and services are either where they were before the government took office or have gone up."
Nyarko further expressed that merely celebrating economic indicators without improving the living standards of ordinary citizens is insufficient. He emphasized that it is the real economy that significantly influences the decision-making of the average person.
He also criticized the John Dramani Mahama administration for its claims about the country's economic performance, arguing that these claims do not align with the everyday realities faced by Ghanaians. Nyarko pointed out that citizens continue to struggle with the rising prices of goods and commodities across the nation.
"The propaganda by the government doesn't change the fact that it has failed to create jobs and control the prices of goods and commodities," Nyarko added.
