GHANAIAN ORESIDENT SETS OUT ON VISITS TO THREE NEIGHBOURINGN COUNTRIES

ACCRA, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of Ghana has embarked on a tour of three neighbouring countries — Togo, Burkina Faso and Cote d’Ivoire — in a move to introduce himself to and deepen relations with countries in the Economic Community of West African States (Ecowas).

The three-nation tour is the first phase of the president’s quest to strengthen bilateral ties and to restate Ghana’s commitment to Ecowas.

Later in May, the president, who assumed office in January, will pay official working visits to seven other Ecowas member countries — Nigeria, Senegal, Guinea, Benin, Cape Verde, Liberia and Sierra Leone.

President Akufo-Addo is visiting Togo from Tuesday to Thursday, Burkina Faso on Thursday and Friday, and Cote d’Ivoire from Friday to Sunday, before returning to Ghana.

The President was accompanied on the trip by Foreign Minister Shirley Ayorkor Botchway.
