Ghanaian Man Demands Compensation After Fiancée Sells House Built on Her Mother’s Land

Dubai:A Ghanaian man residing in Dubai, Philip Asumang, is seeking GH¢100,000 in compensation from his former fiancée, Florence, following allegations that she sold a house he constructed on her mother's land while he was abroad.

According to Ghana Web, Philip shared his story on Oyerepa Afutuo, a programme on Oyerepa TV, detailing how his relationship with Florence started and subsequently deteriorated due to a property dispute. Philip recounted meeting Florence through her mother, Maa Vic, in 2020. Maa Vic facilitated their introduction, and eventually, Philip and Florence entered into a romantic relationship. Florence's mother offered them a part of her land to build a house, and with funds sent from Dubai, Philip constructed the home.

Once the house was completed, Florence informed Philip that she no longer wished to continue their relationship. Following this, Maa Vic suggested splitting the land between Philip and Florence. However, Philip later learned that Florence had sold the house, prompting him to demand compensation for his investment in the property.

Florence, when contacted during the programme, confirmed her decision to end the relationship and sell the house. She cited financial needs, including a loan of GH¢12,000 her family had provided to Philip for his travel to Dubai, as reasons for selling the property. Florence expressed willingness to refund a portion of the sale proceeds to Philip, deducting the value of her share of the land.

Philip remains intent on recovering GH¢100,000 from Florence and her mother due to the sale of the house.
