Accra: President John Dramani Mahama has announced that all Ghanaians can now travel to St. Kitts and Nevis without a visa. The decision follows an extension of the 2018 visa waiver agreement between the two countries, which initially applied only to holders of diplomatic and service passports.
According to Ghana Web, under the new arrangement, the visa waiver now includes ordinary passport holders. President Mahama expressed his pleasure in announcing the extension, highlighting its significance in enhancing tourism, trade, business exchanges, and people-to-people connections between Ghana and St. Kitts and Nevis. He emphasized that this development would facilitate structured labor mobility arrangements, benefiting both nations.
President Mahama also noted Ghana's readiness to support St. Kitts and Nevis with skilled professionals, including nurses, teachers, and other technical experts. He stressed the importance of creating mutually beneficial frameworks and identified key areas for deeper cooperation, such as tourism development, climate-resilient agriculture, renewable energy, blue economy initiatives, hydrostate tourism, and cultural industries.
The President highlighted the significance of improving air connectivity between Africa and the Caribbean to strengthen bilateral ties. The announcement was made during a state visit by the Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis to Ghana, where he was hosted at the Jubilee House. The event was attended by President Mahama, the Vice President, and senior government officials from both countries.
