Johannesburg: A Ghanaian content creator and online activist, popularly known as Sabato, has been reportedly attacked by vigilante groups and security personnel in South Africa over suspicions of involvement in illegal activities.
According to Ghana Web, viral videos surfaced on June 10, 2026, showing Sabato among a group of foreign nationals allegedly rounded up during an anti-immigration operation. The individuals were seated on the ground outdoors and surrounded by their captors, who accused them of being undocumented immigrants involved in criminal activities, including drug smuggling.
In the footage, Sabato was later escorted to his residence, where a security officer interrogated him and was seen removing cash from a small safe in his possession. In a separate video shared after the incident, Sabato recounted what he described as a violent raid on his home. He claimed they were physically assaulted during the raid and expressed his belief that the South African government might be behind such actions due to police inaction.
Sabato warned other Ghanaians in South Africa not to assume their safety, narrating how a crowd broke down the gate to his home during the raid. He emphasized the widespread nature of such incidents across the country.
