Ghana Tourism Authority CEO Addresses Deputy’s Concerns Over Accessibility and Decision-Making

Accra:Madam Maame Efua Houadjeto, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), has responded to concerns raised by her Deputy, Mr. Gilbert Abeiku Santana Aggrey, regarding issues of access and decision-making within the organization.

According to Ghana News Agency, Madam Houadjeto expressed surprise and disappointment over Mr. Aggrey's complaints, emphasizing that her office operates an open-door policy, especially for executive and senior management officers. She asserted that this policy is intended to ensure effective communication and the smooth administration of the Authority.

In her response, detailed in a letter dated October 24, 2026, to the GTA Board of Directors' Chairperson, Madam Houadjeto addressed issues highlighted in an earlier letter by Mr. Aggrey dated October 22, 2026. Mr. Aggrey had pointed out difficulties in accessing the CEO for timely consultations on pressing operational matters.

Madam Houadjeto acknowledged the critical role of effective communication, timely decision-making, and close coordination among executive management. However, she noted that the Deputy CEO's concerns did not accurately portray her availability. She emphasized the importance of maintaining professionalism, mutual respect, accountability, and collective responsibility within the Authority.

To address the raised concerns and enhance internal coordination, Madam Houadjeto proposed several measures. These include scheduled executive consultations, a clear procedure for escalating urgent issues, improved coordination through the Executive's Office, clearer delegation of responsibilities, and regular management coordination to minimize delays and ensure consistent implementation of decisions.

The CEO assured the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts and the GTA Board Chairperson of management's commitment to resolving administrative challenges through constructive engagement. She recognized the Deputy CEO's contributions and expressed optimism for continued collaborative efforts to advance the Authority's mandate.

Madam Houadjeto proposed an early meeting between the two offices to finalize the implementation of the proposed measures, reiterating her commitment to enhancing executive coordination and operational efficiency in line with the strategic objectives of the Ghana Tourism Authority.
