Accra: The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has published a list of 100 unrecognised universities and institutions, highlighting concerns over their quality assurance standards. In a public notice issued on August 28, 2026, GTEC advised the public to be vigilant when dealing with these institutions and to be cautious regarding the certificates they issue.
According to Ghana Web, the list includes universities from various parts of the world, such as Universidad Azteca in Mexico, Indian School of Management and Studies in India, and Breyer State Theology University in the USA, among others. The list also features several institutions from Ghana, including Debest College of Science, Arts and Business, Faith University Seminary, and Doxa Open University. The advisory urges prospective students and stakeholders to exercise due diligence to ensure they engage with accredited institutions.
The release of this list aims to protect the integrity of higher education in Ghana and internationally, emphasizing the importance of choosing institutions that meet established educational standards.
