Ghana Medical Association Elects New Leadership at 65th Annual General Meeting

Accra – The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has successfully elected a new set of National Executive Committee (NEC) members.

According to Ghana News Agency, the General Secretary of GMA, and shared with the Ghana News Agency in Accra, the election took place at the Association’s 65th Annual General Meeting in Takoradi on November 11, 2023.

The newly elected President of the GMA is Dr. Frank Serebour, a Paediatrician Specialist and Medical Superintendent at Bekwai Municipal Hospital in the Ashanti Region. Prof. Dr. Ernest Yorke, a Consultant Physician and Endocrinologist at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and a Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana Medical School, was elected Vice President.

The statement further revealed that Dr. Richard Selormey, a Specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon at St. Elizabeth Catholic Hospital in Hwidiem, Brong Ahafo, will serve as the General Secretary. Dr. Selorm Kutsoati, a Public Health Physician Specialist and Municipal Director of Health Services in the Ga East Municipality, Greater Accra, has been appointed Assistant General Secretary.

The new Treasurer of the Association is Dr. Elizabeth Esi Crentsil, a Senior Specialist Obstetrician Gynecologist at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi. Additionally, Dr. Dan Anane-Frimpong, a Specialist Paediatrician at Essikado Hospital in the Western Region, and Dr. Gladys Naa Lomole Lomotey, a Paediatrician at the Department of Child Health, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, have been elected as the new National Executive Members.

These elections mark a significant milestone in the Ghana Medical Association’s journey, as the newly elected officials are set to steer the affairs of the Association for the next two years.
