Ghana Federation of Disability Organisations Provides Office Space to Member Organisations

Accra: The Ghana Federation of Disability Organisations (GFD) on Tuesday supported four of its member organisations with office space to facilitate their work. The office space, located at the Accra Rehabilitation Centre, is equipped with furnished workstations, a toilet, and a kitchen fitted with a microwave and a refrigerator.

According to Ghana News Agency, the GFD will cover the electricity expenses and provide Wi-Fi services for the four beneficiary organisations until they can become self-sustaining. The organisations benefiting from this initiative are the Inclusive Family Alliance, the Burns Survivors organisation, the Ghana Stammering Association, and Sharecare Ghana.

Mrs. Rita Kusi Kyeremaa, Executive Director of the GFD, emphasized the federation’s commitment to empowering disability organisations to operate at full capacity and make a significant impact. She encouraged the organisations to strive towards self-sufficiency or secure funding to support their operations, allowing other member organisations in need to receive similar assistance.

Mrs. Hannah Awadzi, Executive Director of the Inclusive Family Alliance, expressed gratitude on behalf of the beneficiary organisations, highlighting the importance of the support in enhancing their efficiency. ‘This gesture is a significant step in enhancing the visibility of disability advocacy groups,’ Mrs. Awadzi added.
