Ghana FA set to announce appointment of Chris Hughton as new Black Stars head coach next week

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is in the final stages of talks to appoint Chris Hughton as the new head coach of the male senior national team, the Black Stars.

Information gathered from close sources indicates that the Ghana FA will next week officially announce the appointment of the former Brighton & Hove Albion boss to take charge of the Black Stars.

It is understood that the football association is only waiting for the final go-ahead from the government represented by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The FA has been in close contact with the Ministry in the last few weeks during the engagement with Chris Hughton for him to be handed the national team job.

Once appointed next week, Chris Hughton would take over from Otto Addo who left the role after Ghana exited the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament in Qatar.

Reports suggest that Coach Chris Hughton will work with George Boateng and Didi Dramani as his two assistant coaches.

Their first task will be to handle the next round of matches in the qualifiers for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in March.
