Ghana Enterprises Agency Hosts Skill-Enhancement Workshop for Ketu South Hairdressers

Ketu South, Ghana – The Ketu South office of the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA), formerly known as the National Board for Small-Scale Industries (NBSSI), has recently conducted a workshop to enhance the skills of 40 local hairdressers in the Municipality. This initiative is part of GEA’s efforts to support and nurture small-scale businesses and artisans in the region.

According to Ghana News Agency, the Ketu South Officer for GEA, speaking to the Ghana News Agency, the workshop is a component of the 2023 plan devised for their clients, aimed at supporting business growth. The selection of the 40 participants for this specific training was based on an analysis of data available on them, ensuring maximum impact and relevance to their professional needs.

The two-day workshop, featuring Madam Mabel Somi of Second Image, Aflao, focused on teaching the participants about various types of dreadlocks and the techniques to create them. These participants, all clients of the Agency, received hands-on training in the latest hairstyling trends and methods.

Madam Ibrahim emphasized the importance of registration with the GEA for small businesses and artisans. She highlighted the numerous benefits of becoming a client of the Agency, including access to tailored business development services and expert guidance crucial for the growth of their enterprises.

She also encouraged other small-scale sector workers, such as dressmakers and entrepreneurs in Ketu South, to become clients of the Agency and avail themselves of the numerous opportunities it offers.

Participants of the workshop expressed their appreciation for the training received. Francisca from Franca’s Allure, Aflao, described the workshop as ‘very powerful,’ noting that it helped them understand the distinctions between various types of hair braids, commonly referred to as ‘rasta.’ She pointed out that they learned about different types of dreadlocks, including sister’s lock, locking, and lock extension, and how to make them.

Rachel of El Beraka Hair Salon, Tokor, another participant, expressed her satisfaction with the opportunity and noted that her newly acquired skills in dreadlocks would enable her to provide more satisfying services to her clients and attract more business to her salon.
