Accra: Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has declared that leading the Black Stars to the 2026 World Cup stands as the most significant challenge of his illustrious career, while expressing confidence in his ability to succeed in this endeavor. The seasoned coach, whose appointment is on a four-month contract, was officially introduced at a press conference in Accra.
According to Ghana News Agency, Queiroz was heartened by the warm reception he received upon his arrival in Ghana, interpreting it as a testament to the nation's passion for its national football team. "I want to express my gratitude to the federation, the board, and the government. This is the biggest challenge of my entire career and I am ready. I will bring my 40 years of experience to Ghana," he stated.
Queiroz emphasized that unity among the staff, players, and supporters would be crucial for achieving success. "I trust that with the support of everyone, we can achieve something special. I feel ready, and we must do it together," he added.
He also expressed his confidence in the talent present in Ghanaian football. "I am very confident. I believe in myself and the staff, and having seen the pool of players, Ghana has the talent," Queiroz asserted. "If we play as a team, we can beat any team in the world."
The coach is set to announce his squad for the upcoming World Cup, with two friendly matches planned before the tournament. The Ghana Football Association has also confirmed that former internationals John Paintsil and Fatau Dauda will continue in their roles as assistant coaches.
