Gaborone: Ghana Athletics has issued a formal response to concerns raised by sprinter Saminu Abdul Rasheed regarding travel and pre-competition arrangements at the recent World Athletics Relays in Gaborone, Botswana.
According to Ghana Web, the association released a press statement on May 3, congratulating Ghana's men's 4x100m relay team for their performance, which secured them qualification for the World Athletics Championships Beijing 2027. Despite this achievement, the federation acknowledged the logistical and preparation challenges faced by the athletes.
Ghana Athletics admitted full responsibility for the issues and emphasized the significance of proper planning and conditions necessary for elite performance. The statement highlighted the federation's commitment to addressing these concerns by working closely with the Ministry of Sports and Recreation to develop improved systems and prevent similar occurrences in the future.
