Accra: The Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has revealed that Ghana is set to open a Trade Office in Nanjing, Shandong Province, China, in 2026. This initiative is aimed at enhancing trade and investment relations between Ghana and China.
According to Ghana Web, the announcement was made during a farewell visit by the Outgoing Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Tong Defa, to the minister in Accra. Ofosu-Adjare expressed Ghana's readiness to sign a Zero-Tariff Agreement with China and thanked Ambassador Tong Defa for his active engagement with the Ministry during his tenure. She also highlighted the initiation of trading in local currencies between the two nations, emphasizing its potential to strengthen Ghana's currency due to significant trade activities with China.
The Minister extended her well wishes to Ambassador Tong Defa in his future endeavors and expressed optimism for the continued growth of Ghana-China relations. Ambassador Tong Defa, in his remarks, praised the Minister's efforts in enhancing bilateral cooperation. He noted the eagerness of more Chinese companies to invest in Ghana and expressed confidence in increasing Ghana's exports to China. The Ambassador also acknowledged the success of Chinese businesses in Ghana under President Mahama's leadership.
