Accra:Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, Victor Smith, has announced plans to engage major American companies, including Boeing and Amazon, to explore investment opportunities aimed at job creation in Ghana.
According to Ghana Web, Smith indicated that discussions with Boeing would focus on how the aircraft manufacturer could assist in reviving Ghana’s national airline, facilitating its return to the skies. He revealed intentions to meet with Boeing representatives shortly to discuss potential partnerships.
Smith emphasized that reviving the national airline could generate employment for young Ghanaians and professionals in the aviation industry, providing jobs for engineers, pilots, air hostesses, and catering officers. He highlighted that retaining skilled aviation professionals within Ghana could prevent them from seeking opportunities abroad.
In addition to Boeing, Smith disclosed ongoing engagements with Amazon to explore cooperation opportunities with Ghana. He noted that Amazon had previously interacted with President John Dramani Mahama during the United Nations General Assembly to discuss support for Ghana’s development.
Smith further mentioned that Microsoft had also engaged in high-level discussions with the President regarding potential support for Ghana’s growth. He affirmed that attracting major international companies to invest in Ghana is a priority in his ambassadorial role.
