Accra: Ghana recorded 1,306,962 international tourist arrivals in 2025, generating $4.34 billion in revenue. This figure marks an increase from the 1,288,804 international tourist arrivals recorded in 2024.
According to Ghana News Agency, Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, revealed these statistics during the Government Accountability Series held in Accra. She highlighted that domestic tourism also saw growth, with visits increasing from 1.68 million in 2024 to 1.79 million in 2025, a seven percent rise.
Madam Gomashie noted that the 10 most visited tourist attractions in Ghana, which include the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, Kakum National Park, and Cape Coast Castle, drew a combined 1,377,588 visitors in 2025. This accounted for about 77 percent of all domestic tourism site visits nationwide.
In terms of employment within the hospitality sector, the Minister reported that the average workforce of star-rated hotels in Ghana now stands at 101 staff per hotel, comprising 80 full-time staff and 21 temporary staff. The gender distribution among full-time staff is nearly equal, with 39 males and 41 females.
The tourism sector also saw growth in licensed enterprises, which increased from 6,702 in 2024 to 7,109 in 2025, representing a growth of 6.1 percent. The number of accommodation enterprises rose by 4.1 percent, from 5,210 to 5,424. The food, beverage, and entertainment sector grew by 8.2 percent, while trade and travel enterprises experienced an 18.6 percent increase.
Madam Gomashie emphasized the significant contribution of tourism to economic activity, employment, and national development, noting that the expansion in travel trade enterprises indicates growth in the ecosystem of tour operators and tourism intermediaries, promoting job creation and employment.
