GH Media School to run Fashion programme in 2019

Accra- The GH Media School, a media training institution, has announced plans to unveil a Fashion programme next year, to train creative and passion-driven students in high standard Fashion, Arts and Design.

To achieve that objective, the management of the School had begun the construction of new infrastructure and other ancillary facilities to augment the existing ones.

Additionally, it had begun the accreditation process to run High National Diploma (HND) programmes.

It recently outdoored a Cosmetology programme to train students in Beauty Therapy, Hair Dressing, Massage and Body Therapy as well as Nail Technology.

Meanwhile, the school has already received approval from the Ghana Education Service under the supervision of the Technical Examination Unit, to offer diploma certification.

Mr Clifford Ladzekpo, the Deputy Rector in charge of Academics of the School, announced this at the fourth graduation ceremony of the School, in Accra, on Saturday.

The ceremony was held on the theme: The Impact of Professional Training on the Quality of Media Practitioners, which attracted key stakeholders, including management staff, tutors, parents, guardians, students and loved ones.

A total of 127 students graduated with certificates and diploma in Journalism and Media Studies, Theatre Arts, Integrated Marketing Communications and Television and Film Production after two years of intensive training.

Mr Ladzekpo said the school had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with seven television stations to air students’ productions and give them exposure through industrial attachments.

He noted that the institution had emerged as a brand of choice for prospective students due to its practical-oriented training that equipped students with skills and concepts to be entrepreneurs who could establish their own businesses and even employ others after training.

The Deputy Rector in charge of Academics said the School provided practical experience to students so that graduates of the school emerged out with high quality skills to become relevant to industrial needs.

I encourage all graduating students to use your knowledge and experience to the benefit of all and also be worthy ambassadors as you pursue your career, he said.

Reverend Dr Kofi Osei-Kusi, the Chancellor of the School, encouraged them to pursue quality and excellence in all their endeavours.

GH Media School was established in 2013 with 13 students and currently boasts of 1,100 students.

The School has 70 per cent practical training with 30 per cent theory, with the vision to equip students with relevant skills and tools to excel in the competitive media industry.

The institution has the vision of becoming a full-fledged Technical University to run six major schools namely; GH Media School, GH Cosmetology, GH Fashion, GH Business, and GH Aviation as well as GH Hospitality and Nursing and Pharmacy.

The students who excelled in their respective programmes were presented with certificates, with Master Andrew Osei-Assibey being adjudged the Overall Best Student.
