Accra: The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has announced the commencement of an investigation into the alleged mistreatment of passengers traveling on a KLM flight from Amsterdam to Accra.
According to Ghana Web, the GCAA stated it had taken note of videos circulating on social media showing stranded travelers expressing frustration over their treatment. The incident involved KLM Flight KL059, which was scheduled to arrive in Accra from Amsterdam on Saturday, June 27, 2026.
The GCAA's statement expressed concern about the videos circulating online, highlighting passengers' dissatisfaction with their treatment by KLM in Amsterdam regarding Flight KL059. As the aviation regulator of Ghana, the GCAA emphasized that safety, security, and consumer protection are its top priorities, prompting the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the reported tarmac delay and the alleged mistreatment.
The Authority assured that it will engage all relevant stakeholders and communicate the outcome of the investigation in accordance with established regulatory procedures. The GCAA reiterated its commitment to ensuring passenger safety and security while maintaining high standards of service within the aviation sector.
The regulator stressed that the probe is part of its mandate to safeguard passenger welfare. It also indicated its intention to involve KLM and other relevant stakeholders in the investigation process.
