Yamfo: Lieutenant Commander Michael Tetteh Donkor of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has urged cadet corps across the nation to prioritize truth and honesty in their leadership roles. He stressed the importance of adhering to guiding principles and ethical values as they progress in their careers.
According to Ghana News Agency, Lt. Cdr Donkor made these remarks during the closing session of the 2026 leadership training camp organized by the National Cadet Corps Ghana in Yamfo, located in the Tano North Municipality of the Ahafo Region. The camp, which lasted one week and drew over 500 cadet personnel, focused on the theme 'Truth and Honesty'.
Lt. Cdr Donkor highlighted the importance of truth and honesty in building trust and confidence, which in turn attract respect and dignity. He remarked that in today's world, where shortcuts are often celebrated, cadet personnel must uphold these core values to succeed in leadership.
He also emphasized the necessity of discipline in maintaining truth and honesty, advising the cadets to remain disciplined in all areas of their lives. Discipline, he noted, is key to ensuring that truth and honesty remain integral to their actions.
Mr. Banabas Kofi Okoh, Headmaster of Yamfo Anglican Senior High School, which hosted the camp, underscored the importance of teaching students to be truthful. He argued that instilling truthfulness is crucial for nurturing responsible citizens and strengthening the moral fabric of society.
Mr. Okoh also called on the Ghana Education Service to consider making cadet training a compulsory aspect of school education, citing its effectiveness in promoting student discipline.
Miss Rejoice Amanfo, a participant in the cadet training, shared that the program provided valuable leadership experiences and new knowledge. She encouraged her peers to stay active in cadet activities, emphasizing that respect and dedication are vital for achieving success in life.
