Kumasi: The 27th anniversary of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II's ascension to the Golden Stool was marked with grandeur and cultural splendor at the anniversary, as Amanhene (Paramount Chiefs) and Abrempong (Divisional Chiefs) joined the Asantehene in procession to the durbar grounds. One of the most striking elements of the celebration was the ornate headgear worn by the chiefs, symbolizing authority, heritage, and rank within the Asante Kingdom.
According to Ghana Web, the headpieces, including the revered Asromodwe Abotire (Headgear of the Asantehene), form part of the traditional Akan regalia. Each design reflects the chief's status, historical role, and connection to the Golden Stool. While Amanhene and Abrempong wear distinctive headgear, certain ornaments remain exclusive to the Asantehene, underscoring his unique position as custodian of the Asante Kingdom.
The durbar featured a distinguished lineup of leaders, each adorned in ceremonial attire: Otumfuo Kyeame Kwaku Amaoteng IV (Jachiehene), Nana Akomea Sakyi Tutu Ampam II (Abuontemhene), Tolee Samgba Gyafla (Sampahene), Nana Koduah Acheampong (Ayomsohene), Oheneba Nana Kwame Akoto (Nkawie Kumaahene), Nana Yim Awere Ababio II (Toasehene), Osabarima Appau Bonsie Bonsu II (Amantenhene), Nana Dr. Okoh Agyemang Boakye II (Techirehene), ?kofo? Oppon Afranyam II (Adankranyahene), Barima Debrah Bediako Boateng II (Kwamanghene), Barima Ogyeabo?
