Accra: The Ministry of the Interior has announced that Friday, July 3, 2026, will be observed as a public holiday across the nation. This decision follows the Republic Day, which falls on Wednesday, July 1.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the Minister of the Interior, signed a statement urging the public to recognize and observe the day as an official holiday throughout the country. The statement clarified that although Republic Day is on a Wednesday, the President of the Republic of Ghana has used an Executive Instrument (E.I.) to declare Friday, July 3, as a public holiday. This decision is in line with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act, 2001 (Act 601), as amended.
