Former GNMTA PRO Elected NDC Deputy Organiser in Obuasi East

Obuasi:Akugri Gadafi Avokbil, previously a Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Nurses and Midwives Trainees Association (GNMTA) and now the Operations Director of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Nurses Professional Forum in the Ashanti Region, has been elected as the Deputy Constituency Organiser for the NDC in the Obuasi East Constituency.

According to Ghana Web, Avokbil was elected unopposed after two other aspirants withdrew from the race during the party's constituency executive elections held over the weekend.

In a statement issued on August 26, 2026, prior to the elections, Avokbil expressed that his decision to run for the position was driven by his dedication to the NDC and a desire to solidify the party's electoral achievements. He acknowledged the encouragement from grassroots members urging him to assume a leadership role at the constituency level.

Avokbil highlighted that he conducted extensive consultations across the constituency, receiving strong support from party members. He mentioned that he prayed and sought guidance from Almighty Allah before deciding to contest. Avokbil's experience in student leadership and youth activism, spanning nearly a decade, has endowed him with the organisational skills necessary for the role of Deputy Constituency Organiser.

He pointed out the enhanced responsibilities of party organisers, especially with the NDC currently in government, which include explaining government policies to party members, mobilising support, and contributing to efforts to maintain political power beyond the 2028 general elections. Avokbil committed to being 'the voice and servant of the grassroots,' focusing on organising, mobilising, and defending the party's interests at the constituency level.
