Lagos: Nollywood actress Victoria Inyama has shared her experience with female circumcision, affirming it as the best thing that has ever happened to her. Speaking during a recent Instagram Live session with media personality Daddy Freeze, the actress revealed she underwent the procedure while living with her grandmother in a village. She also spoke about the physical pain and trauma she endured when she was circumcised at the age of five. However, she said the procedure has helped her control sexual urges on several occasions.

According to Ghana Web, Inyama described female genital mutilation (FGM) as evil but acknowledged that it provided her with self-control. She expressed that the circumcision gave her a unique power over her sexual urges, stating, 'If I say I no dey do, I no dey do. And that is the power that I have.' She highlighted that the procedure has kept her from being seen in places like hotels, suggesting it has had a significant impact on her lifestyle choices.

Inyama recounted the experience, recalling that at the age of five or six, she was given gin and held down for the procedure, which was performed by a specialist. Despite the trauma, she views the circumcision as beneficial. However, when asked why she did not circumcise her own children, Inyama explained that she does not have absolute authority over decisions concerning them. She mentioned that her children are British and that she would have agreed to the procedure if their father wanted it, underscoring her complex perspective on the issue.
