Abura Dunkwa:Mr. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Member of Parliament for the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese (AAK) Constituency, has commenced a major initiative to tackle the issue of inadequate classroom infrastructure in the constituency. A sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of several classroom blocks was recently held at Abura Dunkwa.
According to Ghana News Agency, the new classroom facilities aim to improve access to quality education and provide a better teaching and learning environment, eliminating the practice of holding classes under trees and in unsuitable structures in Abura Dunkwa and surrounding areas.
The ceremony was jointly conducted by Mr. Kwakye Ofosu and Mr. Daniel Mensah Wardy, the District Chief Executive for AAK. They initiated the construction of a three-unit classroom block, office, and store with ancillary facilities at Obenkrom, as well as a two-unit classroom block with similar facilities at Kwesi Amaa. Additionally, the Moree community will see the second phase of a 12-unit classroom block project, along with new construction at Korado.
Groundbreaking ceremonies were also held for Community Health Planning and Services Compounds at New Ebu and Katakyiase, which will include accommodation and mechanized borehole projects. A completed Free Primary Healthcare Post at Moree was inspected during the tour.
Mr. Kwakye Ofosu emphasized the importance of education as a catalyst for human development and national progress. He highlighted the need to address infrastructure challenges in basic schools to prevent children in rural AAK communities from being disadvantaged. The new classroom blocks are expected to be completed and operational within six months, providing much-needed relief to local schools and contributing to the end of the 'Schools Under Trees' phenomenon in the area.
