Sanaa:The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has announced a significant breakthrough in dismantling a suspected scam operation in Ghana, revealing losses nearing $10 million.
According to Ghana Web, the operation is part of the FBI's global initiative, Operation Blackout, which led to the identification of 89 victims and the arrest or detention of over 130 individuals. Among those detained, some are victims themselves, who are expected to be repatriated.
The FBI seized more than 300 devices, and Director Kash Patel shared on social media that investigations are ongoing. Patel highlighted that these scam centers specifically target American citizens, causing substantial financial damage and personal harm.
Operation Blackout's broader efforts have resulted in the seizure of approximately $17 billion, with numerous alleged scammers arrested and thousands of trafficked workers freed. The FBI reports that their actions have prevented nearly $670 million in potential losses to American citizens.
