Accra: The Ministry of Education (MOE) has warned students, parents, and guardians against fake and digitally manipulated Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) placement slips being circulated on social media.
According to Ghana News Agency, the MOE revealed that there have been attempts by unscrupulous individuals to alter placement slips digitally and disseminate them online, falsely claiming that students' original school placements had been changed by the Ministry. A statement signed by Mr. Hashmin Mohammed, the Press Secretary to the Minister of Education, described these claims as 'false and misleading.'
The Ministry's preliminary internal verification showed that some of the circulated placement slips did not match records from the official CSSPS platform. The statement highlighted discrepancies in the barcodes and QR codes on the alleged placement slips, noting that these codes did not align with the placement information displayed on the documents.
The statement further emphasized that the Ministry's system records and audit logs did not support the claims of placement changes being made. It stated that evidence indicated the documents had been digitally manipulated to suggest that students' placements had been altered.
The Ministry condemned the alleged manipulation, describing it as a serious attempt to undermine public confidence in the CSSPS process and to create confusion and anxiety among students, parents, and guardians. The Ministry has referred the issue to the Cyber Security Authority and other relevant security agencies for further investigation.
The public has been urged to exercise caution and refrain from sharing unverified placement slips or claims about placement changes on social media. Parents, guardians, and students are advised to rely solely on placement information from official CSSPS channels.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to conducting the 2026 CSSPS exercise with transparency, fairness, integrity, and accountability, assuring that legitimate concerns regarding placement would be addressed through appropriate channels.
