Takoradi: Revellers and holidaymakers have thronged beaches in Takoradi with families, friends, and loved ones to celebrate this year's Easter Monday.
According to Ghana News Agency, during a tour of Vienna, Alan, and Last Hour beaches, the seashores and bars in these areas were filled with holidaymakers engaged in swimming and other fun activities. Khebab and popcorn stands were strategically placed to serve customers, while horse riding was offered as a side attraction. Hawkers seized the opportunity to sell food, refreshments, and various items to the crowd.
Mrs. Cecilia Mensah, a holidaymaker, shared that Easter is a time to reflect on the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and to strengthen bonds with family and friends. She expressed that celebrating with her children on this occasion brought joy and glory to God. Mrs. Mensah encouraged Christians to demonstrate love and compassion, making the world a better place.
Mr. Michael Kwasi Teye, another attendee, emphasized the day's importance for connection and unity with loved ones. He advised celebrants to maintain peace and harmony, avoiding activities that could jeopardize safety at the beaches.
Beyond the beaches, many residents visited shopping malls, pubs, and entertainment centers to partake in Easter Monday festivities. At the Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Cathedral in Takoradi, mass was held for the elderly, followed by a picnic where church societies shared food and drinks. The event was lively, with both young and old dancing to music provided by the church band.
