Dzelukope: Dzelukope Evangelical Presbyterian (EP) School, located in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region, has triumphed in the National Commission for Civic Education's (NCCE) organized quiz competition in the Afugo Zone. According to Ghana News Agency, the Seva A.M.E. Zion School also emerged victorious in the Wego Zone.
The finale for the Fugo Zone, which took place in Keta, saw Dzelukope EP School retain the trophy with a score of 63 points, defeating Bishop Herman Basic Two, which scored 32 points. Madam Elinam Lina Bensah, the NCCE Director at Keta, stated that the competition was initially set to feature three schools: Dzelukope EP School, Bishop Herman Basic 2, and Keta AME Zion. However, Keta A.M.E. Zion was unable to participate, leaving the contest between the remaining two schools.
Madam Bensah commended the participants and their teachers for their assistance in organizing a smooth event and praised their commitment to civic education. She noted that in the Wego Zone finale, Seva A.M.E Zion School emerged as winners with 62 points, closely followed by Abor EP School with 52 points.
The competition was made possible through the support of Mr. Wisdom Seade, the Municipal Chief Executive, the Municipal Assembly, and sponsors including Sitsofe Credit Union, Honesty Store, and Mawulikplim. Madam Bensah mentioned that this event marked the second edition of the quiz competition for the Fugo Zone and the first for the Wego Zone, highlighting a significant step in promoting civic education in the Keta Municipality.
She emphasized the NCCE's commitment to promoting civic education and awareness among the youth, noting that the competition was a testament to this dedication. The winners received trophies and certificates, with Dzelukope EP School and Seva A.M.E Zion School taking home the top honors.
Some headteachers and students expressed their satisfaction with the competition, stating that it would equip students with knowledge about their citizenship education and duties, contributing to the progress and development of the nation. They urged the Keta Municipal NCCE to continue organizing such events to promote civic education and awareness among the youth in the municipality.
