Accra: Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, the Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle, has shared insights into her political journey and the influence of her late father, former President Jerry John Rawlings. She revealed that her father advised her never to inherit his enemies, a piece of wisdom that has guided her throughout her career.
According to Ghana News Agency, Dr Agyeman-Rawlings discussed the strength she derives from prayer and the wisdom passed down by her father during an interview on an Accra-based FM radio station, JoyNews’ ‘Talk No Dey Cook Rice Podcast.’ Reflecting on the challenges she faced both as a child and a public figure, she emphasized the importance of prayer in maintaining focus and purpose.
She recounted her father’s counsel, which has been a guiding principle in her life: “Do not make enemies of your parents’ enemies.” This advice, she noted, has significantly influenced her approach to politics and personal relationships.
Dr Agyeman-Rawlings underscored her commitment to her parents, acknowledging their sacrifices and refusing to disown them, either publicly or privately. She mentioned her father’s apology for the excesses of the revolution and his willingness to take responsibility for actions carried out by others, despite the silence of many who know the full story.
Her political approach, she explained, is shaped by these experiences, and she opposes any form of abuse or assault on her platform. Critics, she argued, often reveal their fear of conviction when they attempt to undermine her beliefs. She stressed the importance of resisting such attacks to maintain one’s convictions.
Dr Agyeman-Rawlings’ reflections offer a glimpse into the personal and political values that guide her as a leader.
