Dr Ofosu Asare Steps Down From 2026 World Cup Management Role

Accra: Dr Ofosu Asare, a veteran sports journalist and former chairman of the Local Organising Committee for the 13th Africa Games in Accra, has resigned from his position as Managing Director overseeing preparations linked to the 2026 FIFA World Cup project. In a formal resignation letter, he announced that his decision takes immediate effect, bringing his short tenure in the role to an abrupt end. He explained that personal and other circumstances made it necessary for him to step down without delay. 'I apologize for the short notice but personal and other circumstances require that I step down immediately,' he stated in the letter.

According to Ghana Web, Dr Asare expressed appreciation for the opportunity he had during his time in the role and extended goodwill to the management and staff he worked with. He wished the organization continued success in its future endeavours, marking a quiet exit from a position he held for only a brief period under Kenpong Travel and Tours.
