Tema: The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr John Abdulai Jinapor, has commended the management of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) for what he describes as significant progress in restoring financial discipline, operational stability, and statutory compliance at the facility.
According to Ghana Web, Dr Jinapor expressed his praise in a Facebook post on June 30, 2026, following TOR's Annual General Meeting (AGM) and the presentation of nine years of audited financial statements covering 2017 to 2025. He described the development as a major milestone in strengthening transparency and rebuilding confidence in one of Ghana's most strategic national assets.
Dr Jinapor also acknowledged the efforts of the Managing Director Edmond Kombat, management, and staff of TOR for their roles in achieving this milestone, highlighting their commitment to ongoing reforms. 'I commend the Board, the Managing Director Edmond Kombat, Esq., Management and the dedicated staff of TOR for their hard work and commitment in achieving this important milestone,' he added.
The Energy Minister expressed optimism about the refinery's improved performance and the resumption of refining operations following maintenance works on the Crude Distillation Unit. 'I am encouraged by TOR's improved financial performance and the successful restart of refining operations following the completion of maintenance works on the Crude Distillation Unit,' he said.
He further emphasized the government's commitment to supporting TOR's modernization, recapitalization, and long-term growth, stressing the refinery's strategic importance to Ghana's energy security. Dr Jinapor noted that a strong and resilient national refinery is essential for reducing import dependence, creating jobs, and adding value to Ghana's crude oil resources.
